NFL Redskins postured for solid 2018 season

After a disappointing season last year, many fans wonder if the Redskins will be able to put together a solid team for the 2018 season. The path is getting clearer with the Redskins’ 2018 schedule being released last night and the upcoming NFL draft beginning next Thursday, but the question remains:  Will the Redskins be able to put together a team that can make the playoffs this upcoming season?

Granted, the team has holes to plug, but they have built on their foundation with some great off-season free agency and trade moves, as I mentioned earlier —  https://carlbuhlerblog.wordpress.com/2018/04/14/redskins-sign-free-agent-cornerback-scandrick-for-two-years/

However, one hurdle will be their early bye during week #4, which means the #Redskins will play 13 weeks in a row following their bye.

Until then…we’ll have to wait a few more days to see who the Redskins will draft…

In a recent statement, the Redskins announced they signed free agent cornerback Orlando Scandrick for a period of two years. The signing of the contract, which was valued at a maximum of $10 million, was first reported by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. Scandrick will wear number 26 — a switch from his previous number 32 he wore with the Cowboys.

Scandrick has solid statistics during his time with the Cowboys, having recorded the second highest number of passes defended in Dallas history with 64. Moreover, he has had 406 tackles during the span of his career, alongside 11.5 sacks and eight interceptions.

A longtime defensive back for Dallas Cowboys, Scandrick joins wide receiver Paul Richardson and linebacker Pernell McPhee as some of the big name free agents acquired by the Redskins. Two Redskins free agents were retained: wide receiver Brian Quick and linebacker Zach Brown, who was speculated to be leaving the team. Meanwhile, the Redskins were able to take in quarterback Alex Smith after trading with the Kansas City Chiefs.
